How We Started...

Welcome!

So, what does "CrossTimbers" mean?  Cross Timbers describes where we live.  It’s a geographical term referring to a narrow strip of land that runs from Kansas to Texas forming the boundary between the heavily forested eastern U.S. and the prairies of the Great Plains.  It’s part forest, part grassland.

Basically, it's a place of transition from life that looks one way to life that looks another. That's what we want to be...a church that you can be a part of no matter what life looks like for you or what transitions you may be facing. Our desire is to help you connect to God in an environment that is both safe and friendly.

HISTORY

The Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Moore recognized the growth that was taking place in Moore.  In June 2008, Founding Pastor Chris Dodson, Jennifer and Elise moved to Moore to start CrossTimbers.  With an awesome small group and lots of hard work, we celebrated our first worship service April 5, 2009 at Broadmoore Elementary School.  God blessed us and helped CrossTimbers grow and in August 2009, we moved into our current location at 3004 S. Sunnylane in Moore.

On Sunday, June 1, 2014 with founding Pastor Chris and new Pastor James we chartered as CrossTimbers United Methodist Church! This was an awesome moment in the life of CrossTimbers! Now we can't wait to have YOU join as a member of our crazy, fun church family!

 WHAT'S SUNDAY MORNING LIKE?

On each Sunday morning you can expect amazing worship and a relevant message. You'll be greeted by friendly people, invited to grab a cup of coffee and a donout (or two!) on your way into the sanctuary.  Our band plays a variety of Contemporary Christian songs, intertwined with secular songs you might hear on the radio during your drive to work or school, and some originals written by our band.  The music is loud enough that you can sing along without worrying about everyone else in the room hearing you!  The messages will speak to events and situations you are facing in life and will help you discover God moving in the midst of life.  We celebrate communion almost every Sunday.  Children are invited to be a part of the worship service with us, but we also offer nursery and childcare up through toddlers.
